“Hokusai Manga” is widely known in the world under the name of “Hokusai Sketch”. A veteran ukiyo-e master who inherits the technique of Edo ukiyo-e carefully reprinted and published all 434 “Hokusai Manga” woodblocks left in the warehouse of the publisher, Unsodo. 80,000 sheets of Japanese paper were used. Each item is finished with Japanese binding.
This book serves as the official catalogue for the exhibition “Kasamatsu Shiro: The Last Shin-hanga Artist” held at the Ota Memorial Museum of Art.
It features 130 works selected from among those left by Kasamatsu Shiro. It also includes some of his precious original handwritten drawings.
