Utagawa Hiroshige’s masterpiece, “One Hundred Famous Views of Edo,” was reprinted by modern artisans using more than six years of time.
After repeatedly examining the original first printing at the Edo-Tokyo Museum, they used the same paints as in the Edo period to precisely reproduce the prints.
The film tells the story of Hiroshige’s challenges in composition and technique from the production site with the knowledge of the craftsmen.
